Big name retailers have been collaborating a lot lately with designers (Kohl’s and Lauren Conrad, Target and Zac Posen, and H&M and Jimmy Choo), but Roots has taken a different step by collaborating with prominent writer & visual artist Douglas Coupland on a limited-edition clothing and accessory collection. He is best known as the internationally best-selling author of “Generation X”, “JPod” and “Generation A”.
The collection includes apparel for women, men, children, accessories, leather goods, design items, furniture, and original art. “Canada Goes Electric” is the theme and this can be seen throughout the style and design of the collection.
The Roots X Douglas Coupland collection is available in select Roots stores, online and at a pop-up store. Prices range from $3.99 to $1,973 for a limited-edition silver leather “Centennial” jacket that is hand signed by the artist and incorporates some of the collection’s most recognizable elements and icons.
Our favourite items in the collection are the leather accesories (passport wallet, laptop sleeve) and the jacket-style shirt. Check out pictures below from the pop-up shop and head down to the shop at 680 Queen Street W.(416 916 1874) before it closes permanently on July 25th.
