Joe Fresh F/W 2011 – LG Fashion Week

There is always an anticipation for the collection of the Canadian power house this is Joe Fresh. Showing to a completely packed venue that included guests standing on the side lines craning their necks to get a peak of the runway, each year the excitement surrounding the collection grows. Perhaps it could be the recent news of Joe Fresh heading south of our border to one of New York City’s prestige shopping destinations, or it could simply be that each Canadian has a touch of pride to see designer Joe Mimran and his affordable collection beat all odds to become a national sensation. Let’s not forget, this line did start out of a grocery store to quickly become a destination for fashionistas and practical dressers alike.
This collection, considering it is the Fall/Winter showing, kept the colour pallet very fresh by using bright orange, yellow, blue and green. There were some very cute jackets in this collection that hit at knee length and offered different style for the sleeves. These will surely make great jackets when the weather gets chilly come September and October, but for the other seemingly endless winter months we Canadians endure, these jackets simply won’t make the cut. There were some very cute knitted dress’s and brocade skirts that will definitely be seen on the streets of T.O. granted they make it into the Joe Fresh stores. One thing we both didn’t like about the collection was the styling as it was very “matchy-matchy” pairing green with green, yellow with yellow, blue with blue, etc, etc. Despite the few hiccups this collection had, we are still excited about the success of the brand and wish them well in their move to the big apple.
What did you think of the Joe Fresh collection?
