This is some exciting news for our friends south of the border. Lady Gaga and Barney’s New York announced their holiday 2011 campaign will feature some of the singers favorite gift items in a special initiative called ‘Gaga’s Workshop.’ A take on the familiar ‘Santa’s Workshop’ this special holiday campaign is a unique collaboration with Lady Gaga, ‘Mugler’ creative director Nicola Formichetti and Barney’s creative director Dennis Freedman. The pop singer has been very busy recently, dabbling in everything from creative director for Polaroid to dressing up as a man at this years VMA’s (we gave you a sneak peek at her alter ego Joe Calderon over a year ago).
For the first time ever, Barney’s New York will convert an entire floor of it’s Madison Avenue flagship into a dedicated space for the holiday initiative, taking over the fifth floor and will also be showcased in the stores iconic Madison Avenue windows. We can’t wait to see what the displays look like! As far as we know, artists Eli Sudback and Christophe Hamaide Pierson of ‘Assume Vivid Astro Focus (AVAF) has designed all the signature artwork for ‘Gaga’s Workshop’ which will be featured on the packaging, shopping bags and what are sure to be spectacular display installations.
The workshop itself will feature a range of exclusive, limited edition, small gift items that will be for sale starting mid-November. In the spirit of giving Barney’s New York will donate 25% of sales from all items featured in ‘Gaga’s Workshop’ to a charity of the singers choice. Although the workshop and many of the items will only be available in New York City, Canadian fans can rejoice this season as a selection of the items will be available for purchase through the companies website.
