During TIFF ’11, The Bay on Queen Street hosted American designer Tommy Hilfiger for a meet and greet with media and fans. Along with Tommy, model of the moment Jessica Stam and New York Rangers player Brad Richards stopped by for interviews and autograph signings. Fans lined up patiently to meet the them, some had been waiting up to three hours in line, for a chance to chat up their favorite guest. With a mix of New York Ranger’s jerseys and well dressed ladies and men making up the winding line up, it was hard to tell who was getting top billing at this session.
It was announced back in August that The Bay will be launching Tommy Hilfiger menswear shops within 66 locations across Canada. The latest collection offers the usual rugged, wholesome, Americana lifestyle the brand has become famous for. The colour pallet focus’ on the Fall classics using earth-tones, navy blues, and plaids in different colours. When asked about the expansion of the Hilfiger brand in Canada the designer had this to say: “We’re looking forward to expanding the distribution of our signature menswear line to more Canadian communities and consumers. Consumers in Canada have a great sense of fashion and I believe our classic American cool style will appeal to them.” We think these menswear concept stores will do very well with the upcoming holiday season.
