There’s something magical in fashion this season, and it all has to do with some of our favorite cartoon characters. We recently told you about London Fashion Week using Disney icon Minnie Mouse as a designer muse, and now a big retailer is taking part in the cartoon fun. Barneys New York, the luxury retailer, has teamed up with Walt Disney to launch their Holiday 2012 campaign: Electric Holiday. A multi-platform initiative infused with fashion and fantasy, Electric Holiday will merge the creativity and magic of Disney with the wit and surprise of the legendary Barneys New York annual holiday campaign to create a celebration of festive modern electric lights, music and fashion.
The Electric Holiday moving art will feature models inspired by Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse as well as other iconic Disney characters as they star in a fantasy Paris runway show, capturing the essence of the high-fashion world along with electrically-charged colors and light. Other Disney characters taking their turns sashaying down the ‘runway’ are Goofy, Daisy Duck, Snow White, Princess Tiana, and Cruella de Vil who will be wearing designs from Nicholas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga, Oliver Rousteing for Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Peter Copping for Nina Ricci, Proenza Schouler, and Rick Owens.
Barneys New York is well known for its exciting and innovative holiday campaigns, like last years collaboration with singer Lady Gaga. The latest installation will be unveiled mid-November, but for now you can check out some the recently released photos from the collection below.
