Pedram Karimi began his studies as a designer at the London College of Fashion. The high cost of london life brought Pedram back to Canada halfway through his degree. There, he graduated from LaSalle College Montreal in 2011. During his final year in school, he won second place in Telio’s Breakthrough Designer Competition during Montreal Fashion Week.
Collection F/W 2013
Travelling back and forth through time is how the designer describes his collection, and the set up for his runway showing was a dark, gritty, yet sophisticated setting with ominous music and lighting, fog machines and clothing that will have you asking what year it is. Playing off his draping skills, Pedram uses masculine silhouettes on both his male and female models with layered fabrics from head to toe and an emphasis on cape coats. Surely some knockout pieces were produced with this designer debut, although the 6-inch platform shoes and leather conductor hats that completed each look seemed to pull the show into a ghostly dimension. Black, white, cream and grey were the main colours for this collection. Looks like the future will be fashionable, lets just hope it won’t be as eery.
