Celebs Welcome TARGET To Canada

The much anticipated Canadian launch of Target has officially come and gone. Opening to mixed reviews from people who loved the new shopping destinations to those who called them a re-vamped Zellers, it seems everyone had something to say about our new neighbour.

On March 27th, we were invited to the official launch party for Target’s Shoppers World location on Danforth Avenue. A star studded affair that include Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively and T-dot’s own Kardinal Offishall, the large department store was filled with food stations, activity areas and, our favorite touch, shopping carts filled with hors d’oeuvres and champagne. Activity stations included hand writing analysis, Wii dance party, photo-booths and more.

As for the gloomy critics of the Target brand being on our side of the border, we must point out that Target donates 5% of profits to support and improve the communities surrounding the stores. This initiative will continue with their Canadian stores. The company also promotes Canadian-specific partnerships that already include Micheal Buble and Dragonnette, and brings international collaborations that we would have had to travel over the border to get our hands on. And if Target wants to boost their image by hosting great parties with A-list celebs, then we say ‘Welcome to the neighborhood!”
