Yorkdale Shopping Centre announced it would be welcoming U.S. based retailer Nordstrom to its growing list of high-end retailers. The construction will take over an existing parking lot and the three-level, 180 000 square foot store is scheduled to open in Fall 2016.
“We are thrilled to bring a store to Yorkdale Shopping Centre and view this as a tremendous opportunity
to serve Toronto,” said Karen McKibbin, President of Nordstrom Canada. “Yorkdale is clearly a premier fashion destination, home to an impressive mix of retailers and we’re excited to be part of the centre. Ever since we announced that we’re coming to Canada, we have been humbled by the response from customers, and we can’t wait to get to work on earning their business.”
Since announcing the company was coming to Canada, all locations announced are operated by Cadillac Fairview but with Yorkdale’s announcement it becomes the first location for mall-rival Oxford Properties.
Scoring major brands has seemed almost effortless on Yorkdale’s part, with store after store planting its Canadian roots at the ‘luxury mall’. Recent openings have included Cartier, Burberry, Kate Spade, Tory Burch and this is just in the apparel category. With another big renovation taking shape at the moment, new residents will include Mulberry, All Saints, John Varvatos, and Zara Home.
