From London’s prestigious Design Museum to Toronto’s Design Exchange, Christian Louboutin is bringing his exhibition of shoe designs to Canada.
The country will be the first to see Louboutin’s exhibit as it is expected to have a global tour starting at DX (234 Bay Street). From June 21st to September 15th, the exhibition will be shown at the museum’s Historic Trading Floor with the famous designer personally coming to Canada on June 20th for a press conference and to personally unveil the exhibit at an opening night event.
Admirers of the iconic shoe brand can visit the museum to learn and understand how Louboutin has drawn inspiration from different concepts such as his love of travel, film, music, circus, illusions and many more. Shoes, sketches and personal artifacts will be displayed alongside visual panels with one display titled ‘THE SHOWGIRL’ showcasing the hologram of burlesque queen Dita Von Teese to highlight Louboutin’s iconic red-lacquered soles. This is but one of the many themed-stations that the museum will offer together with an accurate recreation of the atelier that the French footwear designer has in Paris.
Visitors to the exhibit will be happy to know that there will be the retailing of exclusive Christian Louboutin products at the museum’s lobby as well as the launch of shu eumera’s Christian Louboutin exhibition inspired false eyelashes titled “Rouge et Noir” this June. Only 15 pairs of these eyelashes will be created exclusively for the Canadian audience and, as such, makes them collector’s items.
Tickets to the exhibition and opening night event are available on the Design Exchange website at dx.org
