Canada’s premier shopping center marks another first as it reaches more than $1 billion in retail sales.
Yorkdale’s computed overall revenues from June 2012 to May 2013 has resulted in another successful year and is expected to surpass Northern America’s current top selling mall – South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. The American store’s revenue is at $1.5 billion and reportedly has no plans of expanding.
Yorkdale on the other hand, is foreseen to double up their yearly revenue and take over South Coast Plaza by the year 2017. This is projected with Yorkdale’s ever growing expansion as well as the possibility of having Saks concessions or full-sized Saks stores, La Maison Simmons and the renovation of Holt Renfrew stores.
Aside from being the top-selling mall in Canada, Yorkdale is also expected to claim the title of most productive mall as its sales per square foot have reached $1,300. Pacific Centre, Oakridge Shopping Centre and Toronto’s Eaton Centre are also likely candidates for this title and time will tell if Yorkdale will claim this success too.
