The Shangri-La Hotel celebrated an anniversary this week, toasting to one year since the luxury hotel brand’s first Toronto location. Titled “ACT II,” we were invited to birthday celebrations at the beautiful downtown hotel. The event was attended by members of the media and select guests, who were treated to the unveiling of the hotel’s new Lobby Lounge wardrobe.
Collaborating with Canadian designer Sunny Fong, the hotel brand gave him the task of creating new, fashionable looks for the Lobby Lounge. The result was fresh and modern, which fits perfectly with the stylish 5-star hotel’s design. The new uniforms arrived just in time for the Toronto International Film Festival, as the hotel is sure to welcome some A-list stars during the festivals 10 day run.
“We are thrilled to be working with Asian Canadian designer Sunny Fong,” said Richard Cooke, general manager, Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto. “His creativity, intuitive sensitivity and attention to detail are truly unique. We are very excited about our new wardrobe and its timely debut just in time for TIFF.”
“To partner with a brand like the Shangri-La is a dream come true. My vision for a Canadian luxury label has always been to grow the brand internationally. A partnership like this is certainly a huge step in that direction,” said Fong of the collaboration. “The Shangri-La is known worldwide as one of the best luxury brands; I am truly humbled to be given such a great opportunity to showcase my design to their clientele.”
