In March, we celebrated the ‘luck of the Irish’ a few days before St. Patrick’s day and we celebrated in a way we won’t soon forget. Thanks to leading beer maker Guinness, we raised a glass of their dark ale in a traditional Mongolian yurt, nibbled on authentic pub fare from The Ceili Cottage, and learned how to pour the perfect pint with the assistant of two Guinness lads who were flown in for the events.
The private, invite-only event was just one of the events Guinness had planned in Toronto leading up to St. Patrick’s Day. Kicking off the events was an extravagant motorcade on the Gardiner and Lakeshore, consisting of a Guinness truck (carrying kegs straight from Dublin) surrounded by black SUVs and a police escort. Another event included Guinness kegs being hand delivered to the Irish Embassy here in Toronto.
