Fashion retailer Forever 21 is about to offer even lower prices on jeans, shirts, shoes and more.
The giant clothing chain has made a big impact in the retail industry over the past 10 years, capitalizing on fast-fashion at very affordable prices. Now the company plans to open F21 Red. The separate stores will offer items like $1.80 camisoles and tank tops, $3.80 shirts and $7.80 jeans.
While the store seems to be a new concept for the company, the price point isn’t anything new. Most of the Forever 21’s we have visited already have these items at this price point, so we’re wondering what else the company will be selling at these new concept stores.
The first F21 store opened May 3rd in the Azalea Shopping Centre in South Gate, California. The new store is a whopping 18, 000 sq. feet and had a busy opening weekend. The store also carries select items from the company’s other labels.
While shoppers will be treated with low prices, many are calling the brand’s manufacturing ethics into question. The website for Forbes Magazine questions if even-cheaper cheap-fashion comes into higher demand, will there be more incidents like last year’s factory collapse in Bangladesh that left 1, 129 people dead? Fashion site Fashionista questioned “what kind of conditions and wages made under-$2 t-shirts possible?”
