Since 1992, TFI’s New Labels Fashion Design Competition has featured the hottest up-coming design talent in Canada and this year the competition returns on May 4th at One King West.
This year, four semi-finalists will have their designs sent down the runway during an evening where notable members of Toronto’s fashion community will get together to celebrate the semi-final designers.
The four contemporary womenswear designers in the running to showcase their collections, include: Matthew Gallagher for Maison Matthew Gallagher, Valerie Tolila of Vaiken, Jennifer Torosian and Raed Ali for Jennifer Torosian and Benji Wong Zhen Wang for Benji WZW.
This year the TFI New Labels judges include designer David Dixon, philanthropist Suzanne Rogers, Senior vice president and fashion director for Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor Suzanne Timmins, and Editor-in-chief of FLARE Cameron Williamsom. The judges will have the hard task of awarding one designer the prize of $25,000 for Most Promising New Label, presented by Suzanne Rogers and an upcoming full page feature in FLARE magazine!
