We have been stepping up our running game here at Toronto Is Fashion by attending run clubs and enjoying the run trails that our great city has to offer, and when New Balance Canada approached us to take part in the Sporting Life 10k run, we were game to take on the challenge!
This year the Sporting Life 10k will take place on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 8:00am and starts four blocks south of the Sporting Life store at 2400 Yonge St and goes down Yonge St. all the way to Richmond Street. It then turns west on Richmond St. W, through the Entertainment District, continues south on Peter St./Blue Jays Way past “Gretzky’s” to Front St. The course then goes west along Front St., south on Bathurst St., and then west on Fort York Blvd. to the finish line! Phew!
This year the Sporting Life 10k run will support Camp Oochigeas. Camp Oochigeas (Ooch) provides children with and affected by childhood cancer with what they need most – the chance to be a kid. Ooch is the only residential camp in Ontario to offer on-site IV chemotherapy and blood transfusions providing access to campers in active treatment the friendship and fun of Camp. Operating 365 days a year, Ooch offers programs at a residential camp in Muskoka, at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), three other regional cancer centres and at Ooch Downtown in the heart of Toronto.
We will be joining a running / walking team, that will be led by Garrett Tonge of GTONGE1.com. We will also be training in the days leading up to the big race and you can join too! The #SL10k training run will be every Tuesday leading up to the race day!
