You wouldn’t know it by looking out the window and seeing cold, white snow blanketing most of our city, but spring fashion parties are coming back in full swing. Designer Amanda Lew Kee started the party season off to a great start, showing off her spring collection at hip boutique Jacflash (Queen & Ossington).
Hosting the party on a Monday, we didn’t think the party was going to go too late into the evening, but Amanda, with her lips masked by her bright blue trademark, assured us her Mondays are “anything but boring” and this night was to be no different. Jacflash owner Jaclyn Genovese played host for the night, offering up her store space for guests to mingle and sip on delicious Sobieski vodka concoctions. But now, for the real reason you’re here. The fashion!
The breezy, lightweight Spring collection from Lew Kee was in stark contrast over her previous collection of black, leather, and metal studs, which proves her design ability is able to keep up with current trend forecasts and keep her collections/seasons fresh and unexpected. This collection focuses on a colour pallet of creams, champagnes, greys, peach, and muted blue. The fabric choices are superb, remaining light weight but not clinging to the body, and there was some phenomenal ‘needle’ work done on a zippered dress and skirt suit (pictures 2-4). The designer also told Toronto Is Fashion that her previous collection will be featured on the next season of the hit HBO series True Blood. She will also we dressing a celebrity for this Sunday’s Screen Actor Guild Awards. All in all, the event was fun and party that ensued after, at the Thompson Hotel, surely made our Monday anything but boring.
