IZMA F/W 2011 LG Fashion Week

On the first official day of Toronto’s LG Fashion Week, the design duo behind IZMA showed their collection to a full house. There had been a lot of buzz recently regarding this show, and needless to say we were excited to have been invited to attend. We could talk more about the atmosphere of the crowd and fashion week in particular, but we will save it for another post. Now for the real reason you’re here. The clothing.

The collection was ultra feminine and reminded us of a Persian lady from an iconic decade walking down the streets of France. Using completely sustainable Canadian furs in their designs, something we applaud the designers for, each elegant piece comes off looking fresh and lightweight as opposed to dowdy and dated like some sought-after vintage pieces. Mixed with the luscious furs is a mixture of lightweight organza and heavier, draping silk velvets. From the gently tussled hair, the smouldering red lips and sweeping floor length gowns, this collection was extremely well received by the crowd after the show. One thing that we loved in particular about the collection and it’s styling is that normally a short sequinned dress topped with a fur jacket can look a little hooker-esque. The duo at IZMA however, brings the look back to life as a class act. C’est Bon!
