This weekend is the Interior Design Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Now in its 16th year, the IDS showcases what is new and hot in the world of design from international and Canadian designers.
Having toured the IDS before it opened to the public we were able to get a sneak peek of this year’s exhibits. Here are a few of our top choices you should see this weekend.
Korhani Home is known for their home accessories and their runway collections at World MasterCard Fashion Week, Korhani Home takes visitors on an interactive journey with Kirsten Korhani, Chief Designer and Creative Director of KORHANI Home. The journey ends with a small shopping mart where you can purchase designs from the Korhani collection all for affordable prices.
Studio North features vibrant and dependent ateliers and design-makers from Canada and the world as they show off their designs to the audience at IDS14. With 60 designers bringing one of a kind designs and collections, this section of the IDS is always a must see.
The kitchen appliance and accessory maker has one of the biggest exhibits at IDS14 which features model setups of impressive kitchens. Look forward to cooking demonstrations and take a look at the ‘smart’ coffee makers which measures your cup for the perfect amount of milk. anybody who likes cooking will love the steam ovens.
One of the most fun exhibits, the Ceasarstone Canada has collaborated with London design studio Raw Edges to produce Island, and features a large white open space with a ping-pong table and other exhibits.
The Design Boom Mart
A shopping bazaar that features the designs of up and coming avant-garde designers. Browse the tables and talk with the 30 designers who are selling over 200 inventive objects, from household items, jewellery and accessories to small furniture items and lighting objects.
