New Balance files lawsuit against Karl Lagerfeld Over Logo

Karl Lagerfeld’s Leather Suede Mesh Sneakers is making headlines as New Balance claims that the shoe logo is eerily similar to the New Balance iconic ‘N’ logo.

‘On June 3, 2014, New Balance filed a lawsuit against Karl Lagerfeld to protect our intellectual property rights related to our iconic Lifestyle footwear designs. Although we cannot comment on the specifics of the case, we believe it is vital to actively and vigorously defend our brand,’ a New Balance spokesperson told MailOnline.

The Karl Lagerfeld sneakers retail for $370 and while it is pricier than the New Balance 574 sneakers, there have been comments on how the two sneakers look alike down to the design of their respective letter logos.

New Balance states that the similarity of Karl’s shoes ‘created confusion’ to what is considered a classic logo from New Balance since the 70s.
